Cryptic Wares preset "coffee" clue solutions.

Review the following to learn how to parse the solutions to the preset clues.

1. Grounds for a break? (6)

This clue is considered a "double definition" clue, but uses the exact same words for each definition! Coffee is indeed a "reason to take a break" (the "grounds" on which to take a break), as well as the physical coffee grounds that are used while on a break. Because we have the same words being used in two different ways, we add the "?" to indicate that we're being a bit clever here, but you'll know the answer when you get it!

2. Cost after company’s head of finance is mildly stimulating (6)

Indicators used:

* Cost = fee (synonym)
* company = co (short form for company)
* head of finance = f (literally the "head" or "start" of the word "finance"

This gives "fee" going after "co" + "f" for "coffee".

The definition in this case is "is mildly stimulating", because coffee is known as a mild stimulant.

3. Current environment leaders embracing stepped down need for organic good (6)

This uses an uncommon, but still valid form of word play that uses the rot13 method. These types of clues take a word, or portion of the word and shift all the letters down the same amount of letters in the alphabet. For example, if you start with the word "bar" and shift each letter down 13 letters in the alphabet (after you hit "z", you start back at "a"), then you get the word "one".

Indicators used:

* Current environment leaders = ce (the "leaders" or "first letters" of "current" and "environment"
* stepped down need = offe (moving the letters of "need" down "one step" in the alphabet)

This gives "ce" embracing or going around "offe" for "c offe e" and then "coffee" is the answer.

The definition here is "organic good".

4. Nowadays has endless offer of brew (6)

Very similar in construction to #3.

Indicators used:

* Nowadays = ce (abbreviated form of Common Era (CE), which is the current era or "nowadays")
* endless offer (remove the end off of the word "offer" and you get "offe".

This gives "ce" having or "going around" the letters "offe" for "c offe e", and then "coffee" is the answer.

The definition here is "brew".

5. Charlie’s off drugs, I'm drunk in the morning? (6)

Indicators used:

* Charlie = c (using the phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie..)
* off = off (something things are just that straight forward!)
* drugs = ee ("e" is a common term for ecstasy, or MDMA, and since the clue has it as a plural, then we need two "e"s for "ee")

This gives c + off + ee for "coffee.

The definition here is "I'm drunk in the morning" - which isn't aways true, but oftentimes is and so it gets the "?" to indicate you should still reach the answer even if the definition isn't strictly true all the time.
